GeoCoach User Guide

The GeoCoach user guide explains all the functionality of GeoCoach, the sports tracking app.

Home Sceen

The home screen contains the following elements:

Track List

The tracks list displays a list of all your tracks. Each track displays some basic information such as the track name, location, distance, best run time and default activity type. You can interact with your tracks by either tapping the track to drill into it's run history, long pressing to see the context menu or tapping the favorite star to mark/unmark as a favorite.

Long pressing on a track will open the context menu which will give you the following options:

Track Properties

  • Track Name - The name you give to your track. By default this will be the date and time the track was created.
  • Track Location - The location of the Track.
  • Run Auto Start - Auto start initiates the recording of a run automatically when you hit the start point of the track, rather than manually pressing the record button. You can switch auto start on or off for specific tracks by changing this property. You can also change the default auto start behavior for all tracks in the main app settings. By default, auto start is enabled.
  • Run Auto Stop - Auto stop ends the recording of a run automatically when you hit the end point of the track, rather than manually pressing the record button. You can switch auto stop on or off for specific tracks by changing this property. You can also change the default auto stop behavior for all tracks in the main app settings. By default, auto stop is enabled.
  • Default Activity Type - The default activity type for the track. E.g Running, Cycling etc...

Selecting this option will launch google maps with a marker at the starting point of your track. You can then use the navigation functionality in google maps to guide you to the track start.

Export as GPX file

You can export your tracks in the GPX file format to use with other applications. A track export will only contain the points of the track. If you want your GPX file to include time information you should export a run rather than the track.

Delete Track

Selecting this option will delete the track and all of it's associated run history. If 'Confirm Deletions' is enabled in the settings you will be presented with a confirmation dialog when you click the Delete Track action to prevent you accidently deleting any of your data.

Record Track Button

Pressing the 'Add' button in the bottom right hand corner of the home screen will launch the track recording functionality.

Action Bar Icons

The following actions are available in the action bar on this screen:

Sort Tracks

  • Name - Sorts the track list by track name in alphabetical order.
  • Favorites - Sorts the track list by favorite tracks first.
  • Location - Sorts the track list by track location in alphabetical order.
  • Last Run - Sorts the track list by ascending chronological order.
  • Distance - Sorts the track list by distance, longest to shortest.

Pressing the three dots in the top right corner of the screen will open the menu where you will find the following options:

  • Metric - Km, meters, Celcius
  • Imperial - Miles, feet, fahrenheit

Selecting the settings option will open the settings page.
